The reverse of the canvas bears the stamp of Hollis & Wheeler, ;Boston, MA, a firm that was active from 1843-49, aligning with the year this portrait was painted. The portrait is illustrated in Jennifer Yunginger’s book, “Is She or Isn’t He”, page 89. Provenance: the Donald and Phyllis Randal Estate.
